"The following is a short report detailing some problems encountered during an examination of mid-nineteenth century tenant's petitions on the Shirley estate, in Co Monaghan.
These petitions (PRONI reference D3531/P/1/1-5) contain a number of documents relating to assisted emigration to Australia and North America, including lists of emigrants.
It was these emigrant lists, specifically those to Australia, with which I was concerned."
