We welcome submissions on Irish/Ulster history; expert advice on research, research techniques and sources; and family and local history topics. A browse through the Foundation’s bookstore will give you an idea of the range and scope of our publishing.
The Foundation also works with partners – local groups, organisations and institutions to produce specialist histories. We are interested in hearing from your group or organisation if you would like to discuss a project (See examples of projects – David make this a link)
Submissions can be made to the Foundation’s publications committee which meets four times a year (dates not specified). Each proposal will be given consideration by the committee and the applicant will be informed of the decision of the committee, which is final in all instances. No correspondence will be entered into after a proposal has been rejected, and the Foundation is under no obligation to provide a reason for rejecting a manuscript.
A proposal should be made in writing by post or by email. The submission should include a covering letter explaining the value of the work, its relevance to the particular subject and its likely appeal to the target audience.
Applicants should also submit a list of chapter titles with a short synopsis of each and a sample chapter. If a full copy of the text is wanted we will ask you for it.
Applicants should not, under any circumstances, send original photographs, documents, etc. The Foundation will not take responsibility for their safe keeping or return to the applicant.
